Kelly AyotteRecord in office

7 bills on this scorecard reached her desk, and one of them is not counted: the legislature replaced the text after the vote this site scores, so the act and the vote are about two different subjects. 6 of the 7 count. The alignment is derived from the same field a legislator’s vote is derived from: signing a bill DSA wants counts the same as voting for it, and vetoing one counts the same as voting against. There is no list of “good vetoes” anywhere in this project.

The other ballot, as a check

Scored the other way, on published positions, she comes out at 12.5% (1 of 8). The two ballots disagree, and the published one is the stronger evidence.

Sensitivity check

The items are not spread evenly across the issue areas, so one subject can carry more of the score than the rest. Averaging the areas instead of the items gives 0%. That lands on the same side of the 80% line as the published score.

Cinde WarmingtonPublished positions

She has never held an office that votes on these bills, so there is no record to score. What Citizens Count publishes instead is 15 positions from 2020 to 2024 that map to a DSA plank this site already scores: 11 answered on a survey form, 4 read off her campaign material.

Her own campaign website

4 things she wrote down herself.

  • Against"Education Freedom Account" program
  • ForClimate change action
  • ForExpand net metering opportunities
  • ForMinimum wage increase

Every one of them is the position the Democratic Socialists of America published. No survey form. No questionnaire. Her own campaign site, 2024.

4 for 4 with the DSA program. She wrote it down.

Said before, and not counted twice

Citizens Count asks the same thing in different words across cycles. Where a topic appears more than once, only the most recent statement counts. These older ones are listed rather than deleted so you can see nothing was double-counted.

  • Net metering expansion: For (Citizens Count Issue Survey, 2020)
  • Tax revenue for private and home schooling: Against (Citizens Count Issue Survey, 2020)

Nothing published on these

10 of the 24 scored topics. A blank is excluded from the score exactly as an absence is on a roll call, and is never read as opposition.

  • Allow segregation based on biological sex
  • Fund the Office of the Child Advocate
  • Interest and Dividends tax
  • Proof of citizenship for newly registered voters
  • Public school open enrollment with limits
  • School district tax cap mandate
  • Increase funding for child care providers
  • Majority of public school funding through local property taxes
  • Require local immigration enforcement
  • Capital gains tax

What this ballot does not score

Both candidates have taken positions on far more than the 24 topics above. An issue is left out when the DSA political program takes no position on it, when the two sides of the plank point opposite ways, or when this site already removed the question from another ballot. Every exclusion is listed below with its reason.

Broad-based sales tax
Both candidates oppose it and the plank points both ways. A sales tax is new state revenue, which Economic Democracy wants, and it is regressive, which the same plank objects to. We do not guess a direction.
Electric vehicle fees
A fee on electric vehicles raises state revenue and discourages the vehicles the Green New Deal plank wants. The two halves cancel and there is no honest direction to score.
Encourage local zoning changes for housing development
Removed from the candidate survey ballot in v3 and excluded here for the same reason: a market liberal who wants to abolish zoning answers this the same way a socialist who wants public housing does, so the answer separates nobody.
Abortion questions (all)
Removed from the candidate survey ballot in v2 because four of sixteen questions on one subject decided more scores than any other. The governor ballot inherits that rule rather than reopening it.
Marijuana legalization (all forms)
The DSA program has no drug-policy plank.
Stricter gun laws
The DSA program has no firearms plank. Every gun bill is excluded from the roll-call scorecard for the same reason.
Encourage nuclear development
The Green New Deal plank names a fossil-fuel phase-out and publicly owned sustainable energy. It takes no position on nuclear power either way.
Executive Council process questions
No-bid contracts, the dollar threshold for Council review, and how much a nominee's politics should weigh are questions about how the Executive Council runs itself. They map to no plank, and only one of the two candidates ever sat on the Council.
Federal positions from 2009 to 2016
Kelly Ayotte's profile carries US Senate campaign positions going back to 2009 - Dodd-Frank, the Iran deal, the Trans Pacific Partnership. They are about another office in another decade. The 2020 cut-off removes all of them.
